Hi there

Sorry if this question was answered already, couldn't find a solution.

Often one DVD is stored on my harddisk as two or more AVI files. I only would like to see one entry as ONE movie in AMM.

In the movie details I can choose the number of media (media info -> number of media), but whatever number I enter there, I can only enter ONE file.

Or do I have to enter the various files belonging to one movie as "Episodes"?

So what's then the number of media for?

Thanks,

Wolfgang

you could join the avi files with virtual Dub so each movie is a single file. If the additional files are dvd extras perhaps just manually enter them in the comments

That's only a workaround to be used if AMM couldn't handle it.

Hi, Drachenstein!

If a movie is stored as avi files, you need to add it to the database using the menu Movie-Add from file, not Movie-Add from DVD/Blu-ray.

The "Media count" field is necessary for specifying the number of media.
For example, if a movie is stored on two discs, there should be 2 there.

Dear Gemini

Thanks for the answer. I was aware of this.

If I'm not wrong, technically both ways are the same - just the movie file has to be entered in the "media info" tab under "local path", right?

But still my question persits, how to deal with two *.avi files for one movie? Let's say I want to see only one cover in the virtual shelf, but the movie is split into two *.avi files?

I thought if I enter the number of media as 2, there must be a possibility to enter TWO files as well. If not, what's the function of this media number?

Thanks a lot,

Wolfgang

Hi!

As it turned out - the only way left is the one with episodes, that you suggested yourself :D

Currently, you can add several video files to one movie only on the Episodes tab. They can be called Part 1 and Part2, and add different videofiles. So, you can mark them separately as Seen and play them right from the program.

Thanks for this information.

That's fine, just wanted to do it the right way from beginning on (not that I have to change afterwards all my AMM entries again).

Have a nice day Gemini!
