Character/role in actors field.

I would like to add manually character/role to the actor names in the actors field for some movies. I intend do to it this way, e.g. John Malkovich (as Osborne Cox).
But now everything is added to the names directory.
Would it not it be possible to adapt the parsing procedure in such a way that it neglects all words between parentheses in the actors field?
I will be very gratefull if you honour this suggestion.
