How do i get rid of the spyware quake virus?

I am looking for a completely free way to remove the spyware quake virus from my laptop. Can anyone help? I'm about to throw my laptop out the window? Please somebody.

Personally, I would rather reload my OS but back up my files first. It will save me the headache regarding the process of scanning and removing which is not a guarantee.
