Where is the Categories directory stored?

It seems like it would be a lot easier for me to edit my Categories if I could just do it manually in a text file or something. But I can't find that directory stored on my HD anywhere. Is it saved inside some other kind of program file?

The categories are stored in the database table, the file with .amb file name extension. It contains all your collections' data. The easiest way to edit them is using "Directories - Subject" menu item
